The South West Durham Learning Federation was formed in September 2016 between Evergreen Primary School and The Oaks Secondary School at Spennymoor. Both schools are generic special schools which opened in new, purpose build premises in September 2005. Evergreen caters for Primary pupils who have a range of SEND including moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or Autism Spectrum Conditions. The Oaks caters for secondary pupils who have moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties or Autism Spectrum Conditions.
Both schools have recently had buildings alterations to improve accommodation and the student experience. Evergreen School was judged ‘good’ following a recent OFSTED inspection.
The Governors wish to appoint 2x temporary Teachers with drive, vision, energy, resilience and enthusiasm to join our committed team to cover the maternity leave of 2 teachers. The posts would be to cover a KS1 class for pupils with SLD and a KS2 class for pupils with PMLD
Essential Qualifications: Qualified teacher status.
Previous experience of working in a primary school setting is essential. A knowledge of approaches and strategies for teaching pupils with SEND/Autism would be advantageous but is not essential as training will be provided.
