Durham County Council’s Children and Young People’s Services are seeking experienced Social Workers who:

• Are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, young people and families
• Enjoy direct work with children, young people and families
• Have strong assessment and planning skills

You would join our teams working with children, young people and families who are in need of support and protection, and would be responsible for a caseload of families who require statutory social work intervention, this includes Child in Need, Child Protection and court work involving public and private law. You would have the direction and support of a team manager and social work consultant (a non-case holding senior worker who provides reflective supervision).

To be apply for this post you must:

• Hold a degree or post graduate diploma in social work, or equivalent social work qualification, for example the Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW), Certificate in Social Services (CSS) or Diploma in Social Work (DipSW)
• Be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Undergo Police Vetting, in addition to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure.

Removal, lodging and separation expenses may be available to the successful candidate if at the time of application for appointment their place of residence is outside the administrative area of County Durham and in excess of 30 miles in a straight line from the their new administrative centre, along with a number of other criteria for eligibility.
