An opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Heating Engineer.

The four year role will develop the skills and competencies of the post holder to assist in the provision of Mechanical Services on behalf of Building and Facilities Maintenance (B&FM). The post holder will work with Operational Managers, Mechanical Staff, inside and outside of Buildings & Facilities Maintenance and customers. All as assigned by the Heating Engineer (mentor) and appropriate to the post holders’ level of competency.

To develop the post holder to assist in supporting and advising the Mechanical Manager and other staff regarding plumbing, mechanical and gas maintenance and installation issues.

To develop the post holder to comply with Key Performance Indicators set for the Mechanical Section.

To develop the post holder to assist in the promotion and development of working practices and procedures to improve the Health and Safety culture within the Building & Facilities Maintenance Service.

Required Qualifications: 5 GCSE Grade C or above of which two must be English & Maths or equivalent qualification.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held week commencing Monday 1 January 2018 and will be held at Meadowfield Depot.

The successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.

Due to the requirement to drive a County Council vehicle in this role, appointment will be subject to the production of a valid driving licence for the required category of vehicle and the satisfactory completion of an in-house Driver Induction Assessment. Should the successful candidate be under the age of 17 it is a requirement that they acquire a full driving licence within 6 months of turning 17 years of age.
