Durham Johnston is an oversubscribed and popular 11-18 comprehensive school in Durham City. We are looking for an outstanding senior leader to join our inclusive and hard-working school community.

As a strong leader in school you will be passionate about teaching, and how to increase the life chances of every student. You will have a portfolio of experience which demonstrates how you have led and implemented plans which resulted in significant improvements in provision and outcomes (pastoral and / or academic) for students.

Like every school we have some students who find learning a challenge. We are looking for someone with the skills and experience to support these students pastorally whilst pushing them academically. In educational shorthand, you will use both pastoral and academic structures to ensure that all 'subgroups' make excellent progress. At present, this would mean leading on the school’s pupil premium strategy, developing provision for children who are looked after, ensuring that 'outliers' are supported and that their impact on achievement data is minimised. As such, colleagues with either pastoral or subject leadership experience are invited to apply.
