This is an internal only vacancy, open only to employees of Northumberland County Council.
To ensure the safe and effective day to day operational use of a waste transfer station in accordance with its Permit. To provide frontline waste collection services as required, including driver/ loader on refuse collection and 7.5 tonne caged vehicles.
You will undertake visual checks on all waste delivered to the site to ensure it complies with the Permit, Council policy and procedures.
You will undertake the proper and safe sorting and loading, including use of plant and machinery as well as manual handling, for the transfer of all wastes entering and leaving the facility.
You will drive Refuse, Roll On/ Roll off and Skip vehicles, load refuse and bulky waste and occasional responsibility for a small team of refuse loaders providing overall guidance and motivating staff to achieve service objectives and quality standards.
You should hold an HGV Driving Licence category C and be the holder of a CPC qualification.
Knowledge of the legislation and regulations relating to driving and an awareness of Health & Safety legislation and its application in the workplace is essential, along with relevant knowledge of the tasks, together with the operation of associated tools and equipment.
you should be willing to work towards:
Accredited training in the use of mobile plant and machinery used for loading vehicles.
NVQ 2 in Waste Management or equivalent in an appropriate subject.
Certificate of Technical Competence holder for waste transfer station operations.
