About the Procurement Shared Service

Providing strategic procurement for Northumberland County Council & Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; the Procurement Shared Service is a groundbreaking collaboration between Local Authority and NHS. The service, now into its fourth year, provides a sustainable and cost effective procurement service, which helps drive economic benefits and service quality for its stakeholder organisations.

About the Healthcare Role

Reporting into the Procurement Business Partner, the Senior Procurement Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of a defined number of strategic procurement activities across the two stakeholder organisations and to work effectively with a variety of clinical and professional service users.

As the role crosses both NHS and Local Authority with a Healthcare focus, demonstrable expertise in NHS and/or Public Health & Wellbeing procurement is highly desirable but not essential. However, the successful applicant will demonstrate an ability to draw on a strong set of procurement skills, commercial business acumen and complex contract construction, developed over a number of years working in the public sector.

Those joining the Procurement Shared Service will have a unique opportunity to make a real contribution to shape and drive the continued progression and development of the service. Successful applicants will be proactive and enjoy being challenged by new areas and activities; they will also possess excellent communication and team working skills.
