To coordinate, develop and deliver high quality, efficient and cost effective refuse and recycling services which are responsive to community need and continue to strengthen the Council's reputation through the visible delivery of a clean, safe and attractive environment.

To supervise and co-ordinate all domestic refuse and recycling collections within the area.

To supervise and co-ordinate all trade waste, bulky items, green waste, bin/box/bag deliveries, clinical waste and bring site collections.

To supervise and co-ordinate all Refuse and Recycling operations and ensure the Waste Transfer Station weighing and tipping operations are carried out effectively and are fully compliant with site rules and any requirements stipulated by the environmental agency.

To ensure all safe working practices are followed, to update and carry out risk assessments and method statements within all refuse/recycling and waste transfer stations.

To work with other service managers in assisting Direct Services to rationalise services towards common and consistent County standards.

To assist the Refuse and Recycling Manager to provide timely and accurate budgetary assessments and forecasts for all refuse and recycling services. This work includes the identification and implementation of efficiencies in service delivery in order to improve value for money for residents.

To assist with the development and implementation of safe working practices in order to deliver an effective service

Required Qualifications: Educated to NVQ 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject
Qualification in Waste Transfer operations or working towards achieving the qualification

Due to the requirement to drive a County Council vehicle in this role, appointment will be subject to the production of a valid driving licence for the required category of vehicle and the satisfactory completion of an in-house Driver Induction Assessment.
