Further Information
Northumberland County Council is offering the chance to make your mark in what’s regarded as one of the best places in the country to live. This vast county – the largest local authority area in England – is home to stunning countryside, castles and coastline. Now the council is on the hunt for talented people to take on key roles that will play an important part in Northumberland’s future success.

Northumberland has built a reputation for delivering on the Government’s goal to see greater integration between health and social care and this month will launch details of new formal partnership arrangements between the council and health partners.

The Service Director for Adult Social Care – the Council’s largest single area of spend – will ‘play critical role in cementing our relationship with the NHS’, says Chief Executive Daljit Lally.

‘The kind of person we’re looking for is likely to be someone who is a current head of service and wants to step up. We cover 2,500 square miles and have a number of very well integrated teams as well as integrated management with the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust. It’s a huge opportunity to take forward a nationally leading area in the integration agenda,’ Daljit explains.

As a qualified health or social care professional, the postholder will have significant experience within a local authority and specifically within the areas of adult social care, safeguarding and commissioning. This is a senior leadership post within the Council and you will ensure effective governance and operational service delivery of a wide range of integrated adult social care and safeguarding services for residents in Northumberland.

Working closely with health partners and other organisations at a strategic level, you will be responsible for delivery of our ambitions set out within the Council’s Corporate Plan and driving exceptional customer performance to our residents which enables them to live well and independently.

For an informal discussion about this exciting opportunity, please contact Kelly Angus, Executive Director of HR/OD & Deputy Chief Executive. Email: kelly.angus@northumberland.gov.uk Telephone: 01670 622875.

Closing Date: 12pm Monday 8th October 2018
