Further Information
Northumberland County Council is offering the chance to make your mark in what’s regarded as one of the best places in the country to live. This vast county – the largest local authority area in England – is home to stunning countryside, castles and coastline. Now the council is on the hunt for talented people to take on key roles that will play an important part in Northumberland’s future success.

Although Northumberland is well known for the quality of life it has to offer, there is still plenty of scope to develop its tourism industry. That’s why the Council has created a new role – Head of Service for Tourism and Leisure – to help to raise the county’s profile as well as working closely with Active Northumberland, the charity that runs the Council’s leisure services.

‘We have got so much to offer in terms of tourism that we haven’t taken advantage of enough,’ Chief Executive Daljit Lally explains. ‘This role is an important opportunity to shape our future offer and work with partners to deliver it.’

This is a new role within the Council and will be responsible for working in partnership with key stakeholders and colleagues in creating and developing the strategic direction and landscape for the development of tourism and leisure services across the county. Acting as Commissioner Client Lead for tourism and leisure related contractual management arrangements that are currently in place and to seek to develop new opportunities and funding support for tourism and leisure activities in partnership with organisations such as Active Northumberland will be a key requirement of the role.

The successful postholder will need to ensure that tourism and leisure activities are focused on promoting Northumberland as a proud and passionate county in what it has to offer to both residents and visitors.

For an informal discussion about this exciting opportunity, please contact Kelly Angus, Executive Director of HR/OD & Deputy Chief Executive. Email: kelly.angus@northumberland.gov.uk Telephone: 01670 622875.

Closing Date: 12pm Monday 8th October 2018
