An opportunity has arisen for a Business Admin Apprentice Level 2 to work within Hamsterley Primary School for a period of 15 months. We are looking for a person with a passion and commitment to working in a school environment. We are an outstanding school with a proven track record in developing all staff.

An Apprenticeship is a great way to improve your skills and knowledge and gain a qualification through ‘on the job’ training.

It is expected that the successful applicant be dedicated to building the necessary skills to support the school and work proactively by:

• Assisting in receiving visitors and referring to appropriate colleagues
• Developing the necessary skills to answer telephones and record messages
• Improving knowledge of various electronic packages to aid in the production of reports and preparation of presentation slides
• Acquiring the ability to update and maintain databases and filing systems, in addition to the scanning and archiving of documentation
• Aiding in the dispatch and receipt/opening post and other materials and ensuring prompt dispatch to appropriate staff
• Ensuring appropriate support for, and the health and safety of visitors
• Actively developing a knowledge of current policies and guidelines to enable work within current Data Protection requirements, Information Sharing protocols and Caldicott Guidelines.

The successful applicant will be based at Hamsterley Primary School. However, may be asked to attend other locations.

Required Qualifications: 4 GCSE’s at Grades A-C including English and Mathematics or hold an equivalent relevant qualification.

Outstanding candidates who do not have GCSE ICT (or recognised equivalent) may be considered but they must achieve it by the end of the apprenticeship in order to receive the level 2 qualification. Willingness to participate in training relevant to the post.

Successful candidates will work alongside experienced professionals with very high expectations. You will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to the role and should make a positive contribution to the school.

You will need to demonstrate that you have good communication skills, confidence and that you are able to take the initiative. You will be a very caring person who gets along with others and has a good sense of humour.

We expect the successful candidates to be reliable, very hardworking and ready to throw themselves whole heartedly into the life of the school. You will also need to complete tasks and assignments in a timely manner, so an ability to organise your time efficiently will be essential.

Where our roles are customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
