Further information

This is an exciting time to join North Tyneside Council Children’s Services; in March 2017 Ofsted gave the authority’s services to safeguard children an overall judgment of ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ features.

We are proud of our employees, who are passionate and committed to improving outcomes for our children and young people.

Staff joining North Tyneside will do so at a significant point in its improvement journey. We have restructured our service to ensure Social Workers benefit from being part of smaller teams which enables high quality, regular and reflective supervision and a focus on professional development and well-being. The structure will continue to deliver manageable caseloads and ensure clear decision-making accountability within a culture of high challenge and high support.

Staff will be supported and equipped to practice using the Signs of Safety approach, use the Liquid Logic case management system and benefit from genuine partnership work, including a truly Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub at the Front Door.

As an employee of North Tyneside you will feel valued from the moment you join the organisation. We have a robust induction process to ensure you are supported in your role from day one. Our senior management team are experienced, extremely approachable and value your input. Your ideas and contributions are valued at North Tyneside and in return you will receive:

• £2,000 market supplement paid in addition to your salary
• Full time and part time positions - flexible working options available
• Access to:
o Opportunities for training and development
o Supported career progression
o Staff working at Cobalt Business Park can exclusively access the
MORE Card which provides fantastic money saving offers across the
region plus a calendar of events.

In addition to the above unique benefits you will also receive the following local authority benefits:

• an attractive annual leave entitlement which increases with length of
service
• annual pay increments up to the top of your salary grade
• an enhanced sick pay scheme
• flexible working
• automatic membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
• cycle to work scheme
• access to occupational health services
• access to our Learning Pool for extensive training and development
opportunities.

We are looking for experienced and newly qualified social workers for our Safeguarding teams who are committed professionals, determined to deliver an excellent service to children and families within our communities.

You will bring the enthusiasm and dedication and in return we can provide you with the opportunity to join a progressive and innovative organisation which values its employees and provides opportunities to contribute to an effective multi agency ethos.

We will offer:

Grade 8 - A competitive starting salary of £28,470 pa (this includes £2,000 market supplement)

Grade 9 - (progressed or working towards) A competitive salary up to £36,106 pa (dependent on grade and experience and which includes a £2,000 market supplement) with a wide range of additional benefits, the opportunity to develop skills and experience across a range of different specialist teams within children’s and adults across rural and urban localities.

Please be advised that this position will require an Enhanced Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

North Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

In addition, staff and volunteers are expected to familiarise themselves with all relevant policies, procedures and guidance in relation to safeguarding children and safe practice with vulnerable adults. Within North Tyneside, safeguarding is everybody’s business.
