Programme Support Officer – 37 hours – Permanent

Salary: Grade 9 £27,358 - £30,756

Job Location: Your normal base will be at the Civic Centre, Crook. However you will be required to work at any council workplace within County Durham; in a range of schools, colleges and independent private providers; and across the North East region and beyond.

Durham County Council has attracted ESF/YEI funding from the European Commission to develop a programme for unemployed 16-24 year olds in County Durham. DurhamWorks supports unemployed 16-24 year olds to improve their skills and move into employment, education or training.

The successful candidate will lead the development, implementation and review of effective administration processes and systems to support the delivery of the programme. The post holder will line manage the Administration Co-ordinator and lead the team of administration staff and apprentices. They will lead on the preparation for, and co-ordination of, external and internal audits and develop specifications and successfully procure services that support the effective delivery of the programme. The post holder will lead the development of ESF cross-cutting themes (Sustainability and Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities) within the programme and be responsible for leading the implementation of special events/projects including the DurhamWorks Achievement Awards.

The post holder will demonstrate experience of managing teams, implementing administrative systems, procurement and contracting and co-ordination of internal and external audits.

Required qualifications: Minimum Level 4 qualification.
