We are looking for a Social Worker who has completed their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment, and Senior Social workers to join our Pre-Birth team within the Families First service.
Following a successful pilot of a pre-birth intervention service, which received positive feedback from the Courts and Cafcass and won three Children and Young People Now Awards in 2013, we have created a pre-birth team in May 2018.
The new team consists of Social Workers, a Social Work Consultant and Team Manager.
The team provide intensive planned intervention, assessment, and support during pregnancy to parents where either parent has had a child previously removed through care proceedings. The aim of the team is to support parents to provide safe appropriate parenting to their baby. However, if despite this support parents are not in a position do so the team will plan to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child.
Although the work carried out by the team will be planned each social worker will be carrying out intensive work using evidence-based tools at the highest level of risk. All cases will be in PLO and a high proportion of care proceedings is likely.
These posts would suit experienced social workers who:
• Want to be part of a new team recently established (May 2018)
• Want to carry out meaningful and rewarding work which achieves the best outcomes for children.
• Are enthusiastic and motivated.
• Are committed to giving families a chance to change.
• Are extremely organised, and take a planned approach to their work.
