Further Information
The Sport and Leisure Service are looking to recruit a new Team Leader (Health and Wellbeing).

The post holder will directly be responsible for managing and developing a variety of interventions which impact on healthy weight and well-being across the sport and leisure service.

These programmes form part of the Active North Tyneside programme delivered by the service on behalf of Public Health. The purpose of this programme is to improve the well-being of residents of North Tyneside and in particular support those living in areas with poorer health outcomes.

You will be managing a range of programmes, people and also a number of budgets. You will also directly deliver group activities - for example physical activity and lifestyle education sessions. You will develop short and medium terms plans for intervention and balance a number of priorities.

Your organisational skills will be excellent as will be your ability to prioritise and manage multiple demands. Experience of managing budgets is essential. Experience of managing people and delivering group activities is also essential along with proven interpersonal and communication skills.

You will specifically lead the child weight management programme (Healthy4Life) and coordinate youth multi activity and swimming sessions across the service (No Limits and holiday activities). You will also manage and develop bespoke interventions targeting vulnerable groups of residents which could include young adults who are not in education, employment or training or families who have complex issues. You will have direct contact with residents and support them to make healthy lifestyle changes.

You will be a champion for the Make Every Contact Count agenda and influence people to adopt healthy behaviours at every opportunity. You will be working closely with a multidisciplinary team including public health nurses and a Dietitian. You will directly be responsible for managing casual staff and will work closely with other Team Leads managing staff who are delivering into your programmes.

Building positive relationships is so important to this role. You will work with internal and external partners to get the best outcomes for our residents and proactively develop new networks of contacts particularly in target neighbourhoods. Experience of working and successfully engaging with specific population groups would be desirable.

Experience of effectively marketing and promoting services would also be desirable. We want to encourage more residents to adopt healthy lifestyles and in particular appeal to those communities who may not be as engaged with healthy behaviours.

You will also need to apply appropriate methodologies to evaluate and report on the success or failure of interventions. You will have excellent writing skills and experience of writing reports.

You will be qualified to a degree level or equivalent and have awareness of legislation and national guidance for physical activity and health and wellbeing. You will also have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a related field. This is a brilliant opportunity to join a forward thinking team and make a real difference to the lives of people in North Tyneside. If you have passion and empathy to support people to make positive changes and the skills to deliver, manage and develop programmes we would love to hear from you.

The post is permanent, 37 hours per week, and flexible working arrangements apply. The post holder will also be expected to work evenings and weekends to support business needs.
