VACANCY NO: AHS/19/19

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about the health of people in Durham, to join our Public Health team as a Public Health Advanced Practitioner. The public health team has recently undergone a restructure to improve its alignment with emerging public health priorities across the life course, and greater integration within Durham County Council.

We are looking for a candidate with a track record of implementing public health programmes in a range of settings, and with exceptional communication skills and ability to progress public health priorities through leadership at all levels of the system.

Public Health Advanced Practitioners play a key role in forging partnerships with and influencing all key stakeholders within their specialist area of responsibility.

They will also be responsible for key elements of the Council’s public health vision and strategic plan, developing, implementing, monitoring and leading key public health programmes to reduce health inequalities and improve health and wellbeing. This will be delivered through the commissioning process and marketplace development with providers including other Local Authorities, the NHS (commissioners, providers in the acute, mental health and primary care), the third sector and independent/private sector.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants will be expected to hold a Master’s Degree in Public Health or related field; a relevant first degree, supplemented by public health improvement knowledge, acquired through training, courses and experience; and be registered (or working towards registration) on the Practitioner Register.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held week commencing 11/2/2019.
