A full-time permanent Residential Worker is required.

Aycliffe Secure Centre is the largest secure children’s home nationally and provides for up to 38 young people who are admitted via the Youth Custody Service and family court process (under Welfare Orders). The state of the art building includes five separate houses, a school, leisure and social areas as well as facilities for office and maintenance staff.

The centre provides a national resource for young people who require exceptional services, safe care and nurture in order to support them with their extremely complex needs and help them move back into their community and have successful futures.

We are looking for permanent Residential Workers to care for and co-ordinate the activities of young people on a day to day basis, so that exceptional outcomes are achieved in respect of the quality care standards.

The postholder will work alongside young people ensuring their best interests and well-being are prioritised, keeping them safe whilst developing their potential within and outside Aycliffe Secure Centre.

You will be required to work to Children's Homes Regulations and Youth Custody Service guidance to provide for young people's physical and emotional needs as necessary. The postholder will keep accurate records, prepare reports and contribute to the young people's care planning, reviews and meetings as required.

The role entails shift working between 7.30am and 11pm on a rota basis with some sleep-in duties.

Essential Qualifications:

* 4 GCSEs (grade A – C) including Maths and English or equivalent and/or
NVQ Level 3 in Child Care.

* Commitment towards undertaking and maintaining required training standards
in accordance with the updated career pathway.

The successful applicant will be required to apply for a Disclosure & Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.

It is anticipated that this will take place on Wednesday 20th March 9.00am to 11.00am or Thursday 21st March 3.00pm to 5.00pm.
