Further Information
Durham County Council is one of the largest local authorities in the country and has an excellent reputation as a well-run and financially secure authority. We are taking forward a transformative change agenda that will deliver benefits for residents and businesses by focussing on new ways of delivering services.

We are developing a ‘one council’ approach to the delivery of professional business support services across the Council and we have an exciting opportunity for a new Business Services Manager. This new role reports directly to a Head of Service and will lead the shaping of a new service offer, setting its priorities and providing strategic leadership and direction.

This is a chance to really make a difference, to design and deliver a business support services offer that is truly transformative and which maximises digital opportunities. We are looking for someone who can lead the change programme across business support related activity areas and support a large workforce through this change.

Applicants must have experience in a multi-facetted public sector related arena, with significant experience of implementing major business change, as well as an understanding of how we can use enabling technology to transform our approach, embedding the vision, values and behaviours of the Council. The ability to lead teams, think creatively and work collaboratively will also be key in this role.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Andy Palmer, Head of Transformation, tel 03000 268551 or email andy.palmer@durham.gov.uk

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on Tuesday 25 June 2019.

As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required.
