SCIENCE TECHNICIAN
GRADE 5 (£19,554 - £21,589)
(Full time, 37hrs per week, whole time)

Please note that this position is whole time, which means that you will be in attendance at work all year round (52 weeks a year) and will have an annual leave entitlement (26 days if you have less than 5 years’ continuous local government service, 31 days if you have in excess of 5 years’ continuous local government service; pro rata for part time).

We require an energetic, inspirational and talented person who is well organised, self-confident and motivated and enjoys working with young people.

You will have experience of working in a science environment and/or school and have the capacity to support the work of our science department. Applicants should have appropriate vocational and/or academic science qualifications.

Our students make our school special; they are enthusiastic, talented and motivated to do well. We want the best for them and are looking to appoint someone who will add value to our school and support us in our drive to become outstanding.

The school received its second ‘Good’ from Ofsted in June 2018 but has many outstanding features.

As part of BSF the school has undergone an £8.5 million refurbishment, so facilities are state of the art. The school is also to benefit from the development of a floodlit FA standard 3G football pitch. Situated only 8 miles to the east of Durham City the school is well located for access to the A19 and A1(M). It is also within comfortable driving distance of affordable housing and areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Application forms are available from and returnable to the school.
Closing Date for applications is Wednesday 26th June 2019.
Interviews to be held on Friday 5th July 2019.

Durham County Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer. We want to develop a more diverse workforce and we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community. Applicants with disabilities will be invited for interview if the essential job criteria are met.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment to this post will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service).
