This post is based at the Oaks Secondary School which is a generic special school for pupils who have moderate, severe, or profound and multiple learning difficulties or Autism Spectrum Conditions. The school has received an outstanding grading from Ofsted in its last three inspections.

The Oaks Secondary School is federated with Evergreen Primary School at Bishop Auckland and Croft Community School at Annfield Plain and there may be a requirement to work at these schools.

The Board of Governors of The North & South West Durham Learning Federation wishes to appoint a Visual Impairment Learning Support Assistant from September 2019 to work initially at The Oaks Secondary School but there may be a requirement to work at Evergreen Primary School or Croft Community School.

Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified persons who hold a recognised visual impairment qualification and a Nursery Nurse/ Classroom Assistant to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent: NNEB, CACHE Diploma in Nursery Nursing, BTEC Diploma in Nursery Nursing. Experience of carrying out educational and social programmes with individuals or groups of young people with SEN is desirable.

• Visual Impairment qualification (Essential)

• BTEC Nursery Nursing

• Cache Diploma in Childcare and Education
• NVQ 3 Teaching Assistant
