To succeed, you will need to understand the scale and complexity of the organization and have the ability to meet the challenges ahead.
We are currently seeking to recruit additional highly motivated Environmental Health Officers/Public Protection Officers to join our specialist Environmental Protection teams, who will share our commitment to the delivery of services that are of the highest quality, accord with the Council’s priorities and contribute to the development of a prosperous, safe and sustainable future for County Durham.

Applicants aiming to achieve full qualification as a SEHO will be considered for appointment at the Public Protection Officer grades (8-10) and move into a Senior Environmental Health Officer role on achieving all suitable qualifications. In these circumstances, candidates may be offered a conditional appointment, subject to completion of their Environmental Health degree within an agreed time frame.
Applicants who are in possession of specialist relevant qualifications in the area of environmental protection, but who are not currently pursuing an EHO qualification will also be considered for Public Protection Officer posts, within the grades 8-10, depending upon their specific qualifications, knowledge & experience. Opportunities to achieve SEHO status, via the apprenticeship route, may also in the future be available to the successful candidate.
