Further Information
As one of the biggest councils in the country, with stable leadership and a proud service tradition, Durham County Council is facing the future with confidence. In our first 10 years as a unitary council we have achieved a great deal. In part due to our great people and strong leadership, but also due to creative thinking, partnership working and a sheer passion for what we do.

To help us achieve our ambitions as a council, we have created a new role to focus on key objectives. Our Corporate Director of Neighbourhoods and Climate Change will manage a range of front-line services including bins and waste, transport, environmental health, technical services, partnerships and community engagement. In addition, you will have a strategic role leading our climate change strategy. These services have high visibility amongst residents and communities, and a customer-focused approach will be vital, as will an ability to work closely with councillors, trade unions and partners to ensure that excellent services meet community needs and are delivered in a cost-effective way.

This role will also be part of our Corporate Management Team, steering the overall direction of the council. It is an exciting time to join Durham – so if you feel you have the drive, skills and experience to make a difference in one of the most dynamic, beautiful and ambitious counties in the country, we want to hear from you.
