The Governors of Laurel Avenue Community Primary School are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and creative teaching assistant to join our team with effect from January 2020.

The role is to support two-year-old children within the main school nursery, promoting a happy and stimulating experience where they can explore and learn for five mornings per week, 8.30 – 12.00 noon.

We are looking for an exceptional individual who holds a recognised Level 3 childcare qualification and has experience of working in a nursery setting with two-year-olds.

You will support the class teacher and nursery assistants in delivering the prime areas of learning and have a sound knowledge of child development. If you are able to demonstrate your motivation and passion for working in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and would enjoy working with our happy, welcoming children who are full of personality and a desire to learn, then we would love to hear from you.

The ability to work as part of an already established and experienced Early Years Team is essential.

The successful applicant will:

• have a positive, empathetic attitude towards children and others
• be able to work as part of a team and use initiative when required
• have high expectations for all children
• be flexible and adaptable in order to support children with a variety of needs
• have experience of working as part of a team in EYFS setting, including with two-year-olds
• have experience of contributing to team planning and written assessments of children, including identifying the next steps
• be able to motivate and engage children in the learning process using a range of strategies
• be able to manage competing demands and have excellent behaviour management skills including:
- interpersonal skills
- communication [verbal and written]
- organisation
