Post title: Social Worker – full time – permanent

Job Location: Spennymoor, however you may be required to work at any DCC council office. Travel to neighbouring local authority areas and further may also be required.

Children and Young People's Services are seeking a Social Worker to join our Young People’s Service based at Council Offices, Green Lane, Spennymoor. The Young People’s Service work with young people primarily between the ages of 15 and up to 25 depending on their legal status. Social Workers work with children in need, looked after children and care leavers. Our work focuses on providing stability and opportunities for young people with the aim of improving their outcomes and helping them to reach their potential.

This opportunity will be attractive to social workers who want to:
• Form positive long-term relationships with young people as they begin their transition to adulthood
• Undertake planned work, with some requirement to manage unplanned situations
• Work with a wide range of young people

We are looking for social workers who:
• Are able to build effective relationships with young people and their carers
• Have excellent organisational skills - able to plan their work well and manage unplanned work when required
• Have great report writing and analytical skills
• Are resilient
• Are able to travel. This is normally limited to County Durham and neighbouring local authority areas but could be a greater distance.
