Salary: Grade 9 £27,905 - £31,371 (pro-rata to hours worked)

30 Hours Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday’s (the remaining hours would be for planning Thursday or Friday)

Job Location: Your normal base will be at the Civic Centre, Crook. However, you may be required to work at any council workplace and a range of other venues within County Durham

The Adult Learning and Skills Service are looking to recruit a SEND Lecturer with significant teaching experience within the post 16 and 19+ adult learning sector working in one or more of the following areas:

SEND/LLDD/Autism/ASC/PMLD/Challenging Behaviour/Mental Health, and who can offer one or more of the following subjects:

Maths
English
Employability
Personal Development in Life and Work Skills
Supported Teaching and Learning
ESOL

Ideally applicants will have experience of working on study programmes embedding life and work based curriculum activities inside and outside the classroom with young people who need extra support, or require an advanced programme of learning, in order to reach their full educational potential.

Preferably someone with experience in working with individuals who have physical disabilities, sensory impairments (i.e. hearing or visual), speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties such as dyslexia, conditions such as autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, or have a combination of these difficulties. Also, someone with the relevant SEND experience of implementing employability into the curriculum and liaising with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists.

Successful candidates will work closely with SEND Service Programme Lead and will be responsible for the planning and development of high-quality courses and employability programmes carrying out teaching and learning activities across the County. This will include preparation of individual learning plans, schemes of work, lesson plans and associated learning resources.

Required qualifications:
Level 5 teaching qualification
L3 Subject specific qualification in the field to be taught
L2 qualification in Maths & English
