Working within the Construction Consultancy Services (CCS) team, the post holder will be responsible for project managing the delivery of various projects or programmes of work for the County Council.

The CCS team has a full and varied portfolio of projects which includes the construction of a major strategic employment site; construction of major highway junction improvements; management of bridge structural works; a rolling programme of new build and refurbishment projects across the school estate; a continuous programme of capitalised maintenance condition works; public realm improvements; the construction of the new headquarters and office accommodation fit out of a further 4 buildings; highways infrastructure works; the refurbishment of a number of leisure centre buildings; implementation of sustainability projects including solar farms and LED lighting retrofits; Zero Carbon depot refurbishment projects; infrastructure works for housing plots; flood defence works and PFI contract management.

Whilst the teams portfolio is varied this post will be based in the Mechanical and Electrical design section of the team and have a particular focus on electrical design works.

In the role of Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for:

• Organisation and management of a small team within the
Mechanical and Electrical Section

• The provision of Electrical Design Services to ensure
maximum, efficient and effective use is made of resources
available

• Working with the Section Manager, using a multi-disciplinary
approach, to deliver projects within programmes of work

• Support the Council’s Strategic Property Management function

• Use of Concerto, in conjunction with the Mechanical and
Electrical Section Manager and wider Construction Consultancy
Service (CCS) section, to ensure commission information is
updated and managed

• The provision of advice in relation to the Section’s specialist areas
of design

• Financial and resource management to ensure delivery of
financial targets

• Identify and manage risks associated within the work load

• Health and Safety planning and management within the team
and section

• Manage and work alongside the Framework Consultants

• Develop and ensure effective co-ordination and communication
between all sections of Building Design Services and with all
customers

• Required Qualifications:
HNC/NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in an Electrical/Building Services
related subject
