Working within the Construction Consultancy Services (CCS) team, the post holder will be responsible for project managing the delivery of various projects or programmes of work for the County Council.

The CCS team has a full and varied portfolio of projects which includes the construction of a major strategic employment site; construction of major highway junction improvements; management of bridge structural works; a rolling programme of new build and refurbishment projects across the school estate; a continuous programme of capitalised maintenance condition works; public realm improvements; the construction of the new headquarters and office accommodation fit out of a further 4 buildings; highways infrastructure works; the refurbishment of a number of leisure centre buildings; implementation of sustainability projects including solar farms and LED lighting retrofits; Zero Carbon depot refurbishment projects; infrastructure works for housing plots; flood defence works and PFI contract management.

In the role of Senior Structural Design Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for a wide range of duties and responsibilities including:

• Delivery of projects in line with the RIBA stages
• Carrying out design calculations, drawing, detailing and relevant site
supervision for projects involving structural work.
• To participate in the formulation of, and/or undertake, surveys
specific to programme projects or of a more general nature.
• Assessing Council owned stock or other work undertaken by the
Building Design Team.
• Undertake work with internal or external bodies as directed
• Deal with external consultants as and when required.
• To check Building Regulation submissions for structural adequacy.
• To inspect structures which are possibly dangerous, in accordance
with the 1984 Building Act. and liaise with Planning Service in the
implementation of any necessary action.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering
Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE).
