A secondment opportunity has arisen within the North East Combined Authority for a Tyne Tunnels Support Assistant, on a temporary basis for a period of six months.
The Tyne Tunnels are a key element of the transport infrastructure for the North East of England. They consist of two traffic tunnels and a Pedestrian and Cyclist Tunnel. The
tunnels are operated by TT2 Limited day-to-day, but they are owned and managed by Transport North East (representing the North East Combined Authority working on behalf of the North East Joint Transport Committee).
We need a Tyne Tunnels Support Assistant to help us successfully manage the tunnels and reach our goals. The successful candidate will provide a range of administrative services to assist the Tyne Tunnels Manager and will support meetings and communication with the wider team of Transport North East officers.
The role is new one, so when you arrive you will need to work with the team, stakeholders and partners to help establish the business processes and systems we need to allow you and the team to succeed. It is an opportunity to show case your skills and experience and make the job your own.
You will ensure that business needs are prioritised and managed effectively, making sure we hit deadlines and meet objectives. You will be responsible for tasks including diary
management, the maintenance and updating of records, preparation of documents and presentations to a high standard, and will play a important role in the organisation,
management and administration of events and meetings including tracking actions.
Based at Gateshead Civic Centre, the role reports to the Tyne Tunnels Manager, Transport North East, so you will have experience of meeting and communicating with senior stakeholders. You will have excellent ICT skills and should be able to work flexibly, sometimes under pressure to meet tight deadlines. We’re looking for excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, using a range of media. Attention to detail is paramount in this role, and as we are a public sector organisation you will be politically sensitive.
Most importantly, you must play your part to help the team succeed so you will have a professional outlook, an approachable manner, be self-motivated, enthusiastic, willing to lend a hand and happy to get involved in new challenges.
This post is 30 hours per week but secondment applicants who can work 25 hours upwards per week will be considered.
For an informal discussion about the post please contact Fiona Bootle, Tyne Tunnels Manager: email@example.com.
Interviews will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams. If you are successful at shortlisting you will be notified of the date and time of your interview. A separate invite will be sent via
