Further Information
An opportunity has arisen for a number of Community Development Project Officer posts on a fixed term basis for 18 months to work with the Area Action Partnerships (AAPs).
Durham County Council’s Area Action Partnerships (AAPs) give local people and organisations a say on how our services are provided. There are 14 AAPs that cover the County. AAPs are partnerships that consist of members of the public, representatives for Durham County Council, town and parish councils, police, fire, health, housing, business, and voluntary organisations.
The focus of these roles is to support the development of an ambitious Towns and Villages programme across County Durham to direct resources to deliver physical regeneration improvements or initiatives that support business improvements through local partnership working.
The post holder will support the Principal AAP Co-ordinator and will be aligned to specific geographic AAPs to ensure effective engagement and empowerment of the local community in determining the development and allocation of this targeted funding.
You will work with communities and partner organisations in determining local needs and the subsequent development, implementation and evaluation of Area Action Plans focused on Towns & villages improvements. Linked to this, you will be the key interface with AAPs to determine local needs, develop applications and then to liaise with the wider Towns & Villages Management Group. You will provide regular reports back to AAP Co-ordinators and follow direction from those managers in relation to the outcomes of community consultation. You will also develop engagement/consultation activities to encourage community co-production in design for future activity/physical regeneration. You will be required to support the principles of community development in engaging with local people, community groups and organisations at a neighbourhood level with the AAP area.
Applicants should be Educated to degree level or equivalent and be able to demonstrate experience of working in partnership with both statutory, voluntary and community sector partners to achieve tangible results.
Interviews are scheduled to be held via Microsoft Teams on a date to be confirmed.
