Durham County Council are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who is adaptable, innovative, and can work under pressure as the Councils Electoral Services Manager.

In conjunction with the Returning Officer and team you will plan, manage and successfully deliver County Council, Parish, Parliamentary, Police & Crime Commissioner elections and Referenda.

We are looking for someone with far ranging experience of dealing with election planning, canvass, electoral registration, managing people and budgets, and has the knowledge, expertise and innovation to provide for a modern service. The postholder must be able to develop relationships across the council and with external partners, have proven ability to work with Members, and Senior Officers, and is proactive in community engagement to increase levels of voter registration and participation in elections.

The successful candidate will manage a well established Electoral Services Team, ensuring the delivery of high quality, modern, and professional electoral services for the Council.

Significant knowledge of the practices and legal requirements relating to Electoral Registration and Elections is key to this role.

The successful candidate must have a relevant professional qualification at degree level or equivalent and AEA qualification.
