The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic Lunch Supervisory Assistant (SA) with experience of working successfully and cooperatively as part of a team within a school for children and young people with one or more of the following: High medical needs, PMLD, SLD, ASC, challenging behaviour. He/she should have a clear understanding of the requirements for the care, health and welfare of children and young people.
Working hours are: 11am – 1pm Mon - Fri (10 hours per week)

This position is paid whole time with retainer adjustments applied to periods of school closure. You will not be required to work during the school closure periods however your salary in these periods will be adjusted accordingly in line with the retainer regulations as specified in the National Joint Council (NJC) Green Book agreement.

1. Supervise the washing of hands of pupils.
2. Supervise entry/exit into/from the dining hall by the pupils.
3. Assist pupils during the meal service.
4. Ensure pupils maintain high standards of behaviour, reporting any cases of misbehaviour, especially bullying, as appropriate.
5. Clear up all spillages during mealtime promptly.
6. Assist in wiping up tables, chairs when necessary at end of the meal.
7. Supervision of children in designated areas ensuring good conduct in behaviour in accordance with the schools’ behaviour policy.
8. Initiate games and activities where appropriate, whilst maintaining broad supervision.
9. Supervise children during inclement weather.
10. Engage pupils in safe, enjoyable, and creative activities.
11. Perform basic first aid for minor incidents/accidents.
12. Maintain accurate and relevant incident/accident records.
13. To attend any training courses relevant to the post, ensuring continuing, personal and professional development.
14. Role requires working with a team.
15. Ability to present oneself as a role model to pupils in speech, dress, behaviour and attitude.
16. Provide pastoral care and support to sick and injured children taking appropriate action as necessary ensuring parents and school staff are fully informed of incidents and accidents.
17. Undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the post.

General

18. Comply with health and safety policy and systems, report any incidents/accidents/hazards and take pro-active approach to health and safety matters in order to protect both yourself and others.
19. Demonstrate and promote commitment to equal opportunities and to the elimination of behaviour and practices that could be discriminatory.
20. Clean all tough points at the end of lunch time.
21. Clean toilets as required.
22. Any other duties deemed appropriate towards the provision of a high quality service.
