MPR/UPR £25,714-£41,604

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced teachers to work within our outstanding Maths department. We are seeking to appoint an ambitious person who combines excellent teaching skills, an enthusiasm for the subject and an ability to inspire and motivate pupils. If you have the potential to become an outstanding teacher and the desire to inspire a love for your subject then we would like to hear from you.

Wellfield is a highly successful comprehensive school, for pupils aged 11-16 and achieved its second Ofsted ‘Good’ judgement in June 2018. The Mathematics Department consistently performs above local and national expectations with our outcomes being amongst the highest in the county. You will be joining a very strong team. The school has been developing Maths Mastery (Singapore maths) for the last few years and is part of the Arc partnership.

An £8.5million refurbishment was completed in the summer of 2014, resulting in an excellent learning environment offering state of the art facilities. Situated only 8 miles to the east of Durham City the school is well located for access to the A19 and A1(M). It is also within comfortable driving distance of affordable housing and areas of outstanding natural beauty. We benefit from a Beacon Nursery in the village.

Durham County Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer. We want to develop a more diverse workforce and we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community. Applicants with disabilities will be invited for interview if the essential job criteria are met. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service).

Where our roles are customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required.
