The Strategic Waste Management Team have an opening for a temporary Waste Project Officer (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment WEEE). If you enjoy working with the public, are passionate about the environment and are an effective team player this could be the ideal role for you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and organisational skills as well as an interest in the environment. The candidate will need to be highly motivated, with a passion for making a difference in order to deliver this externally funded 12 month project.

The candidate will be working with stakeholders and project partners to increase public awareness and encourage participation in small household WEEE recycling activities across County Durham. The postholder will be required to identify and install collection points and engage with a range of partners to promote their use in order to increase the reuse and recycling of small WEEE.

The successful candidate will support the work of the Waste Strategy Team and play a key role in delivering and promoting the reuse and recycling of small WEEE across County Durham.

Required Qualifications: 5 GCSE’s (Grade A – C) or equivalent

This role is externally funded until 31 January 2023.

We offer a flexible working hours and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
