Are you interested in working in our Children’s Homes?

Are you unemployed and looking to develop the skills to get a job working with children and young people? Are you working in another job sector and have an interest in exploring a career working in our Children’s Residential Homes?

Durham County Council have an exciting opportunity to offer a free entry level training programme as a routeway into working in our Children’s Homes.

The programme will develop your knowledge of the responsibilities of Residential Support Workers, the diverse needs of the children and young people who live in our Children’s Homes and other important factors such as safeguarding.

The training is delivered as a six-week programme on a part time basis. The programme will include training which will cover working with challenging behaviour, the Childrens Homes Regulations, and developing positive relationships with young people to support the achievement of health and wellbeing.

At the end of the programme, you will receive a guaranteed interview to be considered for a Residential Support Worker post. You will also receive your DBS Check free of charge.
