An opportunity has arisen for a Housing Surveyor

The post holder will be responsible for providing the HIA’s technical service, providing advice guidance and practical support liaising with clients and contractors in order to deliver adaptations and home improvements ensuring 100% customer satisfaction.

The post holder would be responsible for carrying out initial feasibility studies to determine what adaptations would be possible, this would include liaising directly with occupational therapists to establish what adaptations would meet the clients assessed needs.

Within the Durham County Council area we have an annual budget of over £6m for disabled adaptations allowing us to complete adaptations for over 800 clients annually and the post holder would be responsible for design (sometimes by working with external architects) and contract administration all the way through to practical completion to a variety of different adaptations including level access showers, ramps, extensions, stairlifts, through floor lifts, internal alterations, garage conversions, etc

The post holder would be joining a well established team of over fifteen staff including more than six experienced Housing Surveyors.

Applicants should hold a HNC in Building Studies or an equivalent relevant qualification. Experience of working in private sector housing grant/loan environment at a practical level would be beneficial.
