Are you interested in exploring a career working in our Children’s Homes?
We are seeking people who have an interest in working with children and young people living in our Children’s Homes.
We welcome interest from people with a range of backgrounds, you may be unemployed and looking to develop the skills to get a job working with children and young people. Or working in another job sector and would like to explore a rewarding career working in our Children’s Homes.
Durham County Council have an exciting opportunity to offer a free entry level training programme as a routeway into a career within the Children’s Homes Service.
The programme will develop your knowledge of the responsibilities of Residential Support Workers, the diverse needs of the children and young people in our care and other important factors such as safeguarding.
The training is delivered as a six-week programme on a part time basis. The programme will include training which will cover working with challenging behaviour, the Children’s Homes Regulations, and developing positive relationships with young people to support the achievement of health and wellbeing.
At the end of the programme, you will receive a guaranteed interview to be considered for a Residential Support Worker position. The starting salary for a Residential Support Worker is £20,444.
We will process a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check free of charge as part of the programme.
