Graduate Trainee ICT Auditor

Are you ready to start your career in the ICT Audit sector?

Our Internal Audit team has responsibility for making a valuable contribution in providing assurance to one of the largest Council’s in the UK, alongside providing internal audit services to a range of external clients.

We are delighted to be able to strengthen our team with a Graduate ICT Trainee Auditor. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is inquisitive, analytical and has an eye for detail.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

You will support the Principal Auditor IT Specialist in the delivery of IT assurance audits and provide advice and support on IT related risks, governance and control issues for a number of clients.

You will support the delivery of IT audits in accordance with agreed risk assessments and testing strategies. To develop your skills, knowledge and experience you will also assist the Principal ICT Auditor on more complex audits.

You will contribute to the maintenance of internal audit management information systems and production of performance management data.

Your awareness of the IT Audit landscape will enable you to keep abreast of new initiatives and how these impact on corporate and service risks as well as new developments in best practice.

Using excellent communication skills, you will provide advice to clients regarding IT risks and controls and prepare reports for senior managers.

Continuing your professional development, you will also undertake a specialist IT Audit qualification (CISA).

Post-progression, you will have acquired the skills, knowledge and experience to lead individual IT audits and on the maintenance of the Internal Audit Management Information Systems and production of performance management data. You will also supervise and train less experienced colleagues

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

Pre-progression you will hold a relevant degree (BA or BSc Honours) and have the ability and commitment to complete the CISA qualification.

Post-progression you will be CISA qualified and hold current membership of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) and have substantial relevant IT Audit experience.

You will also need:

• Experience of using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
• An ability to build professional relationships
• An understanding of the role of Internal Audit
• A customer focused approach
• Excellent communication skills and the ability relay complex or sensitive information to managers
• A commitment to professional development

It is anticipated that interviews will be held 13th February 2023.

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
