Passionate about public safety and keeping vital services going? We're looking for a highly motivated Resilience and Emergency Planning Officer to help provide a civil contingencies and business resilience service to Durham County Council and organisations with which the council has service level agreements.

The post holder will be part of a small team and play a key role in emergency and business continuity management and planning for, protecting and maintaining public safety, as well as anticipating and responding to risks and threats to public safety, such as acts of terrorism, natural disasters, epidemics, major industrial accidents and business interruptions.

The role involves working in close partnership with a broad range of council services, with multi-agency partners within the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) and working with communities, businesses, schools and other organisations to develop and implement community and business resilience.

Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent in a related subject and/or have relevant experience in the field of emergency management or business continuity.

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply.
