We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic and committed Social Workers for these newly created posts to ensure that the social care needs of people are fully assessed and that individuals are referred to secondary services appropriately or signposted to services that may be able to support an individual who has social care or health needs. The Social Workers will assist housing to navigate adult social care and health provision.

The successful postholders will be based within the Countywide Substance Misuse social work team but will work with colleagues from housing services and across adult services in finding creative and sustainable solutions to meeting housing needs, from seeking to prevent homelessness, supporting tenancies and supporting people into initial tenancies.

You will have access to the expertise of a wide range of other personnel in the Service and other agencies and may be required to oversee the work of other staff who are carrying out tasks on your behalf.

You must have up to date knowledge of current legislation and Policies/ Procedures in relation to Adult Health and Social Care.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Social Work qualification i.e. Degree, DipSW, CSS or CQSW or equivalent

Applicants must hold or be applying for Social Work England registration.

The successful applicants for these posts will be required to apply for a Disclosure Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held week commencing 20th February, 2023
Interviews may be held remotely via Microsoft Teams.

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply.
