An opportunity has arisen for a Travel Planning Assistant to join our Integrated Passenger Transport Group.

The purpose of the post is to develop, implement and monitor travel plans to support and encourage more sustainable travel with the aim to reduce the use of the private car.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You will work with Council officers, schools, workplaces, partners and other key organisations to understand why people travel the way they do, review travel plan documents, design and deliver sustainable travel measures and monitor progress towards targets.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?
You need to be passionate about sustainable travel, with strong communication skills to support, enthuse and motivate others to adopt more active and sustainable travel behaviour. You also need to be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and work independently, plan work load and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines. This includes preparing promotional material and co-ordinating the delivery of sustainable travel initiatives and events.

Applicants should hold a NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject together with having experience in travel planning, delivering initiatives and campaigns, marketing and communication.

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
