Do you have experience of working with insurance claims and looking for a new challenge?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our dedicated team, supporting the delivery of our insurance services.

This is an excellent opportunity to progress your career within the Insurance field. If required you will be supported to complete a professional insurance qualification whilst gaining valuable skills, knowledge, and experience with a large Local Authority.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

With excellent analytical skills, you will process insurance claims information in a timely manner, ensuring data held is accurate and up to date.

You will help us achieve value for money by providing accurate claims information for use by insurers to calculate premiums at renewal and recharging of insurance costs to Services.

As an effective communicator you will provide informed insurance advice to Services and liaise with Managers about insurance claims. You will also provide monthly reports of high-quality information for the Council’s insurers.

With a professional and customer focused approach you will engage with claimants and their solicitors, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult or sensitive claims.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need 4 GCSEs graded A-C including English and Maths or equivalent, and the ability and commitment to study for a professional insurance qualification, such as the Certificate in Insurance.

Please use the ‘Person Specification’ section of your application form to demonstrate that you have the essential and where possible, desirable experience, skills, and knowledge. Candidates who do not evidence that they meet the essential qualifications and experience listed on the person specification will not be short-listed.

You will also need:

• Experience of analysing and reporting on insurance claims information
• Knowledge of the principles of indemnity applied when dealing with liability claims
• Excellent analytical skills
• Effective communication skills
• A professional and customer focused approach with the ability to display sensitivity and diplomacy

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply.
