WHAT IS INVOLVED?
As the Team Leader, you will provide leadership and management for the team to ensure an effective and efficient provision for vision and/or multi-sensory impaired pupils across the Local Authority in a range of educational settings by:
• Managing the operational planning, delivery, service development and quality assurance measures for the Vision and Multi-Sensory Impairment team, to promote inclusion and effective learning.
• Providing outstanding leadership, supervision and line management for a range of teaching and non-teaching staff. This includes taking the initiative in operational service delivery decisions, demonstrating good problem-solving skills and resolving any challenges in a solution-oriented way.
• Supporting the strategic development of the service and working collaboratively with SEND and Inclusion Team Leaders and strategic managers on service priorities.
• Working in partnership with families, educational setting staff and liaising with other agencies including Social Care teams and colleagues from Health and voluntary agencies, to promote inclusion, identify support needs and co-ordinate a cohesive approach to support.
• Contributing to managing a budget and the effective use and management of resources and equipment.
• Maintaining good working policies for the team as well as identifying and organising CPD opportunities.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
You will have substantial experience of working with staff who support pupils with SEND or additional needs. You will have experience in, or qualifications relevant to Vision and Multi- Sensory impairment, or a willingness to complete relevant training. You will be able to work independently, to lead, engage and inspire a team of professional and be able to contribute to the wider service priorities in the SEND and Inclusion service.

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
