Full time, Permanent

Following the promotion of the current post holder, we are seeking to appoint a high quality teacher of Music to join our team on the Elemore Hall Site.

Elemore Hall is a long established Durham LA maintained residential and day special school for 192 secondary aged pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Many of our pupils have additional learning difficulties and needs. We have consistently provided a high quality provision for our pupils recognised regionally and by Ofsted in both residential care and education inspections. In September 2021 we expanded significantly and became a thriving three site provision consisting of two 80+ place main school sites and a twenty place KS4 provision for pupils with more complex SEMH difficulties.

Music is taught to all pupils from Y7-11. It is a popular and thriving subject in the school. We use a Rock School style approach where pupils learn to play different instruments to enable them to perform either in class or during an end of term concert. The curriculum is guitar, bass, keyboard, drums and vocals based. We currently offer BTec as a qualification in the subject. Several pupils have moved on to study music post16.

Teachers at the school are encouraged to be involved in the provision of activities in our extended day/residential programme (this is not compulsory and is negotiated individually, but is paid). We welcome applications from teachers of all levels of experience including NQTs, getting the right person for our school is our priority.

There is so much to say about the school and the vacancies that potential candidates are strongly encouraged to visit or telephone the Headteacher (Richard Royle) or Deputy Head (David Lord) for further information on 0191 372 0275. All applications must be made on the standard application form, this, along with further details about the school and the post, is available from the school website www.elemorehallschool.com

Applications should be emailed to richard.royle@elemorehallschool.com

Following Safer Recruitment guidelines, only candidates who achieve enhanced DBS clearance, and have at least two supportive references (including most recent employer) will be eligible for employment.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Closing date for applications:- Midnight on Thursday 20th April 2023

Interviews: Friday 28th April 2023 (provisionally)
