Post 1: Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Treatment Team. Post 2: Complex Needs Both posts fixed term until 31 March 2025. An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 qualified and registered social workers to support adults who are homeless or in temporary accommodation. Both roles will involve a significant amount of assertive engagement, direct time spent with service users and the opportunity to work flexibly and creatively to support the adults. Both roles will include assessment of mental capacity issues, assessing needs for care and support and responding to, and coordinating, safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014. We would envisage that the 2 social workers will be able to support each other and work closely together and cover each other’s roles where required. Post 1: You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team which is designed to provide integrated responses to people who are rough sleeping or are entrenched in the homelessness system. You will work with closely with colleagues within Newcastle Treatment and Recovery Service and housing colleagues. Post 2: You will work mainly with adults in temporary accommodation who have additional needs such as mental ill health or substance misuse. You will support the social workers in the adult community and mental health social work teams offering a co-working/ scaffolding approach. You will work closely with temporary accommodation providers and treatment and recovery services. Social work supervision will be provided by a Social Work Team Manager within the Drug and Alcohol or Adult Community Team.
