Business Administration Apprenticeships: 7 vacancies

The work going on behind the scenes of North Tyneside Council is broad and varied, therefore many of our apprenticeship opportunities are in administration.
This will be the fourth year we have identified more opportunities for admin apprentices as several of our past apprentices are now employed.

A business administration apprentice will carry out general office tasks such as creating documents, arranging meetings, sending emails, and handling telephone calls. Each of our admin posts is based with a different team in the council each with their own distinct function.

Our apprentices are fully supported by the team around them with a named mentor and manager. As an apprentice with North Tyneside Council, you will learn skills, gain experience and knowledge and achieve a recognised qualification.

Our admin vacancies are in the following teams:

Based at the Council Head Quarters, Cobalt Business Park. The Gateway is the first point of contact for adults needing social care services. For example, an older person who needs help to get dressed in the morning, a young person who is homeless or a vulnerable adult being harmed by another person.
You will provide admin support to help social workers and other professionals advise and support adults with their social care needs.

Based at Maritime Chambers, North Shields. The Registration Team provide a customer focused service which includes the registration of birth, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships. As an apprentice you will be trained to deal with customer enquiries: face to face, in writing and via telephone.

Based at the Council Head Quarters, Cobalt Business Park. You will be trained to provide admin support to teams overseeing the work around early education funding, advice on the refurbishment of our schools and public buildings and parents accessing information on childcare.

As an admin apprentice you will support the Public Health Teams, the Supporting Families Teams and other services based in the Locality Teams. Please be advised that this position will require an enhanced check from the Disclosure & Barring Service.

The service has teams with a range of functions – adult learning and education; advice and guidance for young people (‘Connexions’) and employability projects. The service employs a large team of tutors and advisers and has a Business Support Team that supports all the functions relating to the day to day delivery of the service. As an admin apprentice you will be part of the Business Support Team.

Based at the Council Head Quarters, Cobalt Business Park. As an apprentice you will work in the Management Support Team. You will learn how to provide admin support so the service can deliver Adult and Children’s social care. This will involve learning about how social care is managed and the systems which make this happen.

Based at the Council Head Quarters, Cobalt Business Park. The team support the Council to handle information, particularly personal and sensitive information relating to our customers and staff. As an admin apprentice you will learn about Data Protection, Freedom of Information and legislation and will be trained to deal with information requests, information security and a range of admin tasks.
