North Tyneside Council are offering a great opportunity for training as a Park Keeping Apprentice. There are 4 apprenticeship posts based at two locations: Wallsend Parks and Northumberland Park. The anticipated start date for the programme is 10th of September 2018, fixed term for 18 months.

You will be trained to use gardening equipment and machinery, how to look after plants and borders and the on-going maintenance of open grass, watercourses and woodlands. While gaining experience in Green Flag Award winning public parks in North Tyneside

No previous experience is necessary as all training will be provided as you work your way into a budding new career.

The role involves a lot of hands on work, mostly outdoors and with a day release scheme studying a Level 2 Award in Work-based Horticulture: Parks, Gardens and Green Spaces with the Adult Learning service. The apprenticeship programme will also involve studying Maths and English (Functional Skills)

Seasonal shift patterns apply: Early starts of 7.30am and longer hours in the summer and late starts of 9.30am with shorter hours in the winter.
