Further Information
North Tyneside is a great place to live, work and visit. With a broad range of housing, great schools, strong transport links and a fabulous environment that connects country, river and award-winning coast.

North Tyneside Council has often punched above its weight. With an Elected Mayor and Cabinet with clear ambitions for the Borough we have worked together to deliver high performing local services and in a range of partnerships to make a success of our communities and economy.

But there is much still to do. With an agreed Local Plan there is a fifteen year vision for how the Borough might look; that needs to be brought to life. Our children need to be ready for school, young people and adults ready for work and life and our population helped to be healthy, to be safeguarded and to be cared for. And, like every other local authority we need to balance the books.

The Elected Mayor has committed to making sure we are a council that works better for residents. We have fantastic people delivering great services but we want to make it clear that we listen and we care.

Part of that is making sure the organisation is great at communication and we are looking for a Communications Manager to help us do this. This new role presents a unique opportunity for an experienced communications professional to develop and deliver an effective communications and marketing strategy and service. The successful candidate will work closely with the Elected Mayor, Cabinet, Elected Members and the Senior Leadership Team, and lead the corporate Communications and Marketing Team. We are looking for someone who is a trained communications professional with news journalism expertise and senior experience in a fast-moving, sensitive and multi-channel news environment. Someone with extensive experience in developing a narrative from complex and sensitive activity. Someone who is able to deliver professional communications and marketing advice to support the development and delivery of policy and change, while promoting equality and inclusion.

The right person is likely to be looking for their next opportunity, for a chance to prove themselves and a chance to develop in a positive and challenging environment. They will also do their homework and might like a chat.

For further information about this post please contact Jacqueline Laughton or Paul Hanson on 0191 643 7000 or 0191 643 5724.

North Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
