Further Information
North Tyneside Council Law and Governance Department is looking to recruit a casual Civic Driver to assist the Council’s civic representatives comprising of the Chairman, Deputy Chairman and the Elected Mayor. A civic car is available for the purpose of driving to official meetings, events and functions ensuring the civic representatives arrive safely and in a timely manner.

The post holder will be required to act as Mace Bearer at annual council meetings and official events such as Remembrance Sunday. Additionally, ensuring the maintenance of the civic car carrying out external washing, internal cleaning and routine checking.

The successful candidate will complete a team of two civic drivers who will work on a scheduled basis with working requirements made available one week in advance. The post provides an interesting opportunity for travel across the north east, work on a part time and flexible basis.

The successful candidate should:

• Hold a full clean driving licence (class B & C)
• Be able to plan efficient journey routes and manage time effectively
• Have a polite, respectful matter and act discretely at all times
• Be well presented and punctual
• Be able to accommodate flexible working and occasional weekends

Experience of driving professionally is desirable but not essential.
