Further Information
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Neighbourhood Housing Service. We are recruiting 4 new full time officers to focus primarily on assisting new tenants or those transferring from legacy benefits to Universal Credit (UC). The posts are fixed term for 12 months (to be reviewed at the end of this period).

The primary purpose of this role as Neighbourhood Housing Officer is to ensure our tenancies are sustained through proactive intervention by delivering a range of advice, support, prevention and enforcement measures to ensure our tenants can sustain their tenancies.

You will take ownership of a specific group of tenants to assist them with their transition to UC. You will work primarily with those applying for UC for the first time or those having difficulty whilst on UC. The successful applicants will be working with them, supporting them and working with our key partners at the Job Centres (work coaches) and Citizens Advice. The aim of this role is to ensure that the transitional period at the start of a new UC claim goes through smoothly with the right information and that tenants pay their rent from the start.

You will work as part of a highly motivated team which is proactive and customer focussed to ensure that our estates are clean, safe and thriving places where people want to live.

Other duties will include the general management of housing estates and tenancies including income collection, tenancy enforcement, taking responsibility for resolving customer enquiries and working seamlessly with the wider housing service and our partners.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and customer care skills and a commitment to delivering high quality customer focused housing services.

If you are an enthusiastic and motivated individual and feel you have the above skills and knowledge required we would like to hear from you.

North Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

In addition, staff and volunteers are expected to familiarise themselves with all relevant policies, procedures and guidance in relation to safeguarding children and safe practice with vulnerable adults. Within North Tyneside, safeguarding is everybody’s business.
