It is a really exciting time for Health Visiting in Redcar & Cleveland as the Health Visitor service is now incorporated within the council and we are working to maximise integrated working within Early Help to ensure that children and families achieve their optimum health potential

We are currently seeking to recruit enthusiastic, reliable and motivated registered nurses and midwives who have respect, empathy, and personal integrity and who wish to further develop their career as a Health Visitor. You must have current NMC registration in any branch of nursing or midwifery. We will fund your Health Visitor training to a BSc (Hons) at level 6 or Post graduate Diploma at level 7 in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing in conjunction with Teesside University for September 2018. All applicants need to have relevant post qualification experience and have 120 CAT points at level 2 or equivalent.
Specialist Community Public Health Nursing aims to reduce health inequalities by working with individuals, families and communities, promoting health, preventing ill health and in the protection of health.

As a Health Visitor you will play a fundamental role in delivering the Healthy Child Programme, safeguarding vulnerable children, promoting health through early intervention with families, identifying those in need of greater support who may be vulnerable, whilst also driving forward public health issues. Every day working as a Health Visitor is varied, with responsibilities including home visits, working within Children Centre’s, and with a range of local children’s agencies and professionals.

Health Visitors have the opportunity to work flexibly in the community and are an integral part of the healthcare team. It is a diverse role which involves being part of a wider team that provides you with support as you work to improve the health of local families.

You will be sponsored by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council on a 12 month fixed term contract, commencing September 2018. The course is full time, comprising of 52 weeks of study and clinical placement. Holidays are set and non-negotiable to university requirements.

For admission there will be a group session, an unseen question and interview. You will need to be available for the full day.
