Together for Children is a newly established Company in Sunderland which works on behalf of the Council to deliver children’s services in the city including social care, early help and education.
An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Finance Service of Together for Children Sunderland. The post will offer the right candidate the chance to expand their current knowledge and experience within a busy Finance Team.
The post will be responsible to the Director of Finance and Finance Manager and the successful candidate will assist on a team providing a range of financial services, advice, information and guidance to the newly created Children’s Services Company.
The Accountant will actively assist the Finance Manager and Senior Accountant in providing financial information and advice relating to all aspects of budget planning, preparation and monitoring through to the completion of final accounts, government returns and grant claims. Candidates will need to demonstrate experience of working to strict deadlines and a commitment to improving standards through continuous improvement and staff development. Other key responsibilities will include supporting the Finance Manager in developing financial information in response to user needs, government legislation, developing links between performance and financial information, and supporting the efficiency agenda.
Candidates should preferably be CCAB fully qualified accountants (preferably CIPFA), or AAT qualified with minimum 2 years post qualification experience, with experience of successfully providing the full range of accounting services in a public sector environment.
